Dana Kato, E-RYT200, YACEP

 

 

Dana wears many different hats at Listening to Smile: Affiliates/Program Manager, field recorder, content editor, yoga instructor, energy worker, and breath work/meditation teacher. 

Her studies began at The Pennsylvania State University where she obtained a B.S. of Science in Information Sciences and Technology in 2003.  During her college years, she found yoga and never looked back!  Yoga was her saving grace during high times of stress and anxiety.  It helped her find herself and learn more about self-acceptance and taking one moment at a time.  This love turned into a passion to teach and share yoga with the world.  In 2001, she began her teacher training with Terri Turczany studying Viniyoga, a therapeutic healing approach to yoga.  Then in 2014, she completed a 200 hour Hatha Yoga teach training and obtained her certification from The Sangha Center for Yoga and Wellness under the direction of Andrea Davis Kirkham.   In 2015, she then completed a yoga assisting program with Salt Power Yoga, and in 2017 completed a 200 hour Power Flow Teacher training and obtained her certification from Salt Power Yoga under the direction of Wendy Foster Elliot and Rachel Bekelja.  In 2018, she continued her education with a workshop, Yoga for Cancer, lead by Joni Sturgill. 

She began studying and working for Listening to Smile in 2018, but has been using the music for her own healing since 2016. Listening to Smile’s music made a huge difference in her recovery from a chronic illness that she struggled to heal.  She found it difficult to find relief utilizing traditional methods of medicine.  The music has also helped her work through recovery from depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.  The frequency helps her to not focus on the thoughts that fuel  traumaaddiction and, and to instead create new pathways in her mind that can be programmed with new intentions and beliefs. 

She loves working with the team at Listening to Smile and enjoys helping others that struggle with depression, anxiety, and trauma.  Her goal is to help others find ways to heal the dis-ease that is the symptom of trauma or anxiety with safe, gentle, and loving methods like incorporating the music by Listening to Smile and yoga.  For her, LTS frequency broke through when not much else could, and she wants to share how healing this music is with the world!    

Currently, alongside working for Listening to Smile, she teaches yin yoga and vinyasa power flow classes.  She also holds classes and events incorporating Listening to Smile frequency minded music with yoga and meditation classes.  She centers her classes on the breath, encouraging her students to get out of their minds and into their bodies, allowing the breath to carry them through not just yoga but life.   

When not working, she loves nature and you can most likely find her in the woods hiking, meditating, or recording field recordings for Listening to Smile tracks with her two beagles.  Nature is the other prescription for healing that she loves to talk about.  Her perfect recipe for healing = Nature (including doggies!), Yoga, and Listening to Smile music!
