MysticMag Interviews Ian & Falyn | by Sarah Kirton | September 2024

MysticMag chats with Ian Morris and Falyn Hunter Morningstar, the visionary founders of Listening to Smile, a pioneering platform dedicated to revolutionizing wellness through Frequency Minded Music™. Ian, renowned for his innovative Frequency Minded Music™ and the transformative LTS Method, combines healing frequencies with artistic mastery to foster relaxation and personal growth. His global collaborations and artistic versatility underscore his commitment to holistic well-being. Falyn, with expertise in Functional Diagnostic Nutrition and holistic wellness, complements this mission through her Radiant Balance System and integration of mindful practices. Her recent book and successful guided meditation album further illustrate her dedication to empowering individuals and fostering resilience. Together, Ian and Falyn lead a movement towards profound self-discovery and healing through sound and holistic practices.

What inspired you to create Frequency Minded Music™ (FMM), and how does it differ from traditional sound healing methods?

Ian: In late 2011 and early 2012, I was diagnosed with colon cancer and MS. This diagnosis marked the beginning of a profound journey of self-discovery, akin to a dark night of the soul. During this time, two books profoundly influenced my path: You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay and The Healing Power of Sound by Dr. Mitchell Gaynor. Dr. Gaynor, a traditional physician who delved into sound healing, worked with cancer patients and observed significant results. As a musician, these discoveries prompted me to reevaluate my relationship with music—not as mere entertainment, but as a tool for healing and emotional release.

From that moment forward, I began to explore how frequency and music could aid in my personal struggles. This journey inspired me to create music that aligns with the concept of healing and release work. I wanted to offer others the opportunity to discern between music designed for entertainment—catchy, danceable tunes—and music crafted with a focus on healing. This led to the development of what I call “Frequency Minded Music™,” which is distinct in its attention to brain wave states, frequencies, and beats per minute. The music I create is intentionally designed with a target focus on healing and release work, setting it apart from conventional entertainment.

Can you explain the science behind Enhanced Binaural Beats and how they contribute to the healing process?

Ian: I’ve always been fascinated by pioneers like Wilhelm Reich, Buckminster Fuller, Nikola Tesla, and Royal Raymond Rife—individuals who made groundbreaking contributions to science and innovation. I loved immersing myself in their research, particularly the work of Rife, who explored the use of multiple frequencies for healing with remarkable results. One of the concepts he worked with was carrier frequencies, which piqued my interest.

This led me to explore the idea of using binaural beats as a carrier frequency, and then layering pure tones or multiple tones on top of that. I experimented with stereo imaging, starting with myself, then eventually expanding to family, friends, and later, clients over the past 12 years. The results were powerful and transformative, which led me to develop what I call “enhanced binaural beats.”

The name stems from the fact that I’ve taken the original binaural beat theory and technology to a more advanced level, creating a more customized experience tailored to each individual’s needs. This exploration of frequencies has truly evolved into something that produces profound healing effects.

How does the alignment of your monthly music releases with Vedic astrology enhance the healing potential of FMM?

Falyn: We all recognize that each of us is just a small speck in the vastness of the universe, part of a much larger collective. There are greater energies at work in the cosmos, and we wanted to incorporate Vedic astrology into our music to align it as harmoniously as possible with these forces. For instance, when more dense, challenging energies are present, we aim to use frequencies in the music to soften their impact, helping listeners feel more comforted, at peace, and secure. Conversely, when lighter, more playful energies are in play, we strive to amplify that joy, encouraging people to move toward their goals and passions with greater ease. In essence, Vedic astrology serves to enhance the alignment of our music with these larger cosmic rhythms, amplifying the impact of what we’re already striving to achieve on a broader scale.

What are some of the most profound transformations you’ve witnessed in individuals who have used Frequency Minded Music™?

Ian: Two powerful experiences come to mind that truly underscored the impact of Frequency Minded Music™ for me. Early in the process, I worked with a single mother and her autistic, non-verbal daughter. Over six months of using the music and engaging in specific exercises, we witnessed remarkable changes. The daughter, who had previously been in her own world, began to speak more each day and started responding to her mother’s cues. For example, when it was time for dinner and her mother called her, she would actually look in her direction—something that had never happened before. This breakthrough was a profound moment, demonstrating the potential of Frequency Minded Music and enhanced binaural beats to reach and support someone with autism.

Another transformative experience occurred more recently with a mother whose 16-year-old son had been diagnosed as quadriplegic after a wrestling accident. She reached out to us for help with our music, and while I couldn’t promise a miracle, I emphasized that people defy diagnoses every day. I encouraged her to maintain hope and use the music as a tool to amplify their intentions. They started listening to our music for two to three hours a day, and although her son was immobile, the mother kept a playful attitude, saying he had “no choice” but to listen.

The results were astonishing. Within a few months, her son began to regain movement in his fingers and toes. Soon after, he regained bladder and bowel function, sat up in bed, and eventually started assisted walking. By the end of the first year, he was walking in the hospital

and even went trick-or-treating with his family. Witnessing this incredible recovery, knowing that our music played a part in it, was both humbling and inspiring. It reinforced my belief in the mission we’re pursuing and gave me even more confidence in the power of Frequency Minded Music™ to facilitate healing and transformation.

How does Listening to Smile support holistic practitioners in incorporating FMM into their practice, and what benefits can they expect?

Falyn: This is a great question because it highlights how Listening to Smiles’ work can support practitioners in multiple ways. I initially discovered Listening to Smiles’ work as a functional health practitioner through previous podcasts, and it’s fascinating how everything has come together.

Listening to Smiles supports practitioners in several key ways:

Training Materials: Each month, Listening to Smile releases a new album and provides training materials to accompany it. This ongoing education helps practitioners integrate the latest techniques and insights into their work.

Music Licensing: Practitioners receive licensing rights to use the music legally in their group classes, events, and private sessions with clients. This is crucial for ensuring that practitioners are compliant with copyright laws and can confidently use the music in their practice.

Community and Networking: Twice a month, Listening to Smile hosts community calls where practitioners discuss strategies, network, and collaborate. For example, there have been collaborations between practitioners in Australia and Mexico on retreats. These interactions provide opportunities to expand professional networks and explore new avenues for growth.

Revenue Streams: The affiliate and member programs offer ways to add additional revenue streams. Practitioners can leverage these programs to enhance their existing practices and broaden their reach.

Incorporating Listening to Smiles’ work into your practice not only enriches your offerings but also helps you stand out by integrating unique and valuable resources into your professional toolkit.
